We belong to the Brahmin community of Konkan, the coastal belt of western Maharashtra. In fact, 'Konkanastha' means 'resident of Konkan' in Sanskrit. Our influence grew during the reign of chatrapati Shahu Maharaj who appointed members of our community to key positions.
